Steam e Comedy

I went to this show mostly to see Lavell who is one of my favorite comedians and overall it was a good show. Lavell was funny, but I’ve seen funnier stuff on you tube. I think he was trying out new material.


Michael Colyar, who I love, turned out and did a set. I have to put up a video of him. Michael is like an old school comic but he is hilarious. He told everyone to see the Princess and the Frog, not because of his five lines, but to support black movies. He said after it opened, he went to see it and invited all of his friends. Before the film started, he stood up and gave a speech like he owned the place, even though he paid $10 for a ticket like everybody else. Okay, it was funnier when he said it.

They started bagging on Tiger Woods for not finding one black woman to sleep with but I heard he hooked up with Tyra before he got married but I doubt she’ll be claiming him.

Kim Whitley said, “I heard Tiger is going to Africa. At least we know he won’t be tempted there.”

Michael said, “The only time you’ll see Tiger next to a black woman is if he’s holding her for the police.”

The benefit was for Flame who lost everything when his house was burglarized while he was out of town with his kids. When 6 ft tall Flame walked onto the stage in a low-cut, backless dress with these big biceps, huge Dolly Parton breasts and opened his mouth, his voice was deeper than Barry White! I almost fell of my chair. Yes, Flame is a tranny. In the movies, they call this the surprise twist. Anyway, he was the dirtiest one. “Ni@@a this and b@#tch that.” That was a big shock and a big disappointment since everybody else kept it clean. I almost walked out. I don’t like all that cursing. It doesn’t make you funnier, it just makes you crude. He thanked everybody for supporting him because he said he faced a lot of discrimination when he started out.

My only beef was this whole 2 drink minimum racket. I bought dinner and a drink and they still made me buy a 2nd drink. So if you go to the Comedy Union, hit the taco joint down the street and save your money. Yeah, I’m cheap. What of it?
